PRL x Naiomi Glasses Suede Sport Coat

Presenting the third and final drop of the Polo Ralph Lauren x Naiomi Glasses collection, the inaugural collaboration of the Ralph Lauren Artist in Residence programme, reflecting our evolved design approach with the artisans and communities who inspire us. The Polo Ralph Lauren x Naiomi Glasses collection honours Navajo heritage and centuries-old weaving traditions. Naiomi Glasses is a seventh-generation Diné (Navajo) textile artist and designer whose work reflects the beauty of her Indigenous culture. This concluding assortment captures Naiomi's love for rodeo culture, its heritage and its deep connection to the Navajo way of life. Grounded in denim and rich indigo hues, these pieces find inspiration in the signature attire of Navajo rodeo contestants and the colour of Dinétah (Navajo Nation) skies. Based on the mix of casual and elevated garments worn by professional cowboys at rodeo ceremonies, this unisex sport coat is made with roughout suede – a particularly nostalgic fabrication for Naiomi, who grew up riding on a saddle trimmed with the same durable material. It features four-directional crosses embroidered on the Western-style yokes and engraved on the concho buttons. The four-directional cross and the number four carry great significance in Navajo tradition, as well as in other Native communities. They reference the Earth's four directions and the stars.
